Analysis of emotional intelligence in mixed martial arts athletes aged 16 to 22

Abstract

Emotional intelligence is a new field of study in sports, there is little research on this topic. The objective of the research was to determine the profile of emotional intelligence in mixed martial arts athletes from 16 to 22 years old in a gym in San Pedro Cholula, Puebla, with a sample of 10 athletes, 5 women and 5 men. The test applied to understand emotions was the Traid Meta-Mood Scale-24 (TMMS-24). The result was able to identify that men are better in the range of the subscales, which means that athletes control, understand and identify their emotions. Unlike women, they are below the score, what we can say is that they must carry out strategies to control and understand their emotions. Emotional intelligence in MMA consists of recognizing your own emotions, leading them to training and competitions for better sports performance.


The methodology used was descriptive and qualitative, collecting detailed information through the tests. It is expected that this research will contribute to strengthening the performance of martial arts athletes through emotional intelligence.  Which will allow you to establish effective strategies for your training.
